Hey, I’m Bidi

Being Jewish means having a tattoo on the back of my neck—not something I think about often, and I don't observe any rituals tied to it. Yet, it's a defining component of my identity. Whether or not I practice, and no matter what my views are, I’ll always be seen as such.

Being born in Israel adds another layer to my identity, one of non-belonging. I don’t have the privilege to ignore the news. I’m expected to have an opinion.

I’m ashamed of what my country of origin is doing, and I disguise my Jewish identity. But when confronted, I’m most proud of being from Haifa1.
This city is a unique blend of cultures and harmony that’s seen in no other city in Israel.

In 2017 I left Israel and traveled to over 40 countries.

While speaking with locals and travelers from around the world, I’ve come to recognize two undeniable truths. The first is that the weather is getting hotter. The second is that no one seems satisfied with their government.

I’ve Been a nude model, a production coordinator, an IT specialist, a waitress, a typist, a business owner, a student, a teacher. I have a masters degree in social science, which I can wipe my ass with. I speak, more or less, 6 languages.

I Smoked for 20 years, and quit. I drank alcohol for 20 years, and quit. I
Ran a lot of trail and road races, most proud of running 4 full length marathons.

I have a lot to say, about a lot of things.

My boyfriend likes watching TV while having dinner, I like reading the news while having lunch. It became impossible for me to ignore the end of the world coming.

And so - I write.
